Financial technology products carry a unique design burden: they ask people to trust them with their money. First, trust: visual cues that communicate security, stability, and professionalism — encryption badges, clear privacy policies, professional typography, and a design language that says "we take your money seriously." Second, usability: financial interfaces are inherently complex, and our job is to make them feel simple without oversimplifying the functionality that sophisticated users need. Third, differentiation: the fintech space is crowded, and products that look like every other banking app struggle to build brand loyalty.
Accessibility is non-negotiable in fintech. Financial services are essential services, and barriers to access can have real financial consequences for people with disabilities.
