Packaging That Sells Before the Pitch

On a shelf or in a thumbnail, your packaging has seven seconds to communicate quality, purpose, and brand. Every element must earn its place.

Package design is one of the most constrained design disciplines. You are working within a fixed physical form — a box, a bottle, a bag, a can — with limited surface area, strict regulatory requirements, printing limitations, and production costs to consider. And your design must compete for attention alongside dozens of alternatives in the same category, often at a distance where fine details are invisible. Within those constraints, the design must communicate what the product is, who it is for, why it is worth choosing, and what makes it different from the competition.

We approach package design as a strategic problem. Before we design anything, we study the competitive shelf (or the competitive search results page for e-commerce products). We identify the visual conventions of the category — the colors, shapes, and design patterns that consumers have been trained to associate with this type of product. Then we make deliberate decisions about where to follow those conventions (to ensure the product is recognized as belonging to the category) and where to break them (to stand out from competitors).

Our package design process covers structural design consultation (if you are developing a new package form), surface graphic design, dieline creation, print-ready file production, prototyping, and press-check support. We work with your manufacturing partners to ensure designs are producible within their capabilities and cost constraints.

For e-commerce brands, we also design the unboxing experience — the packaging your customer interacts with when the product arrives at their door. This increasingly important touchpoint is an opportunity to reinforce brand value, encourage social sharing, and include materials that drive repeat purchases.

Industries We Design Packaging For

Each industry has its own compliance requirements and shelf dynamics.

Food and beverage: FDA labeling requirements, nutritional panels, allergen declarations, and the specific visual language of food packaging that communicates freshness, quality, and taste appeal.

Cannabis: State-specific compliance labeling, child-resistant packaging requirements, and the unique brand differentiation challenges of a rapidly growing and visually crowded market.

Beauty and personal care: Premium materials and finishes, ingredient listings, regulatory claims, and the aspirational visual language that drives purchase decisions in this category.

Supplements and wellness: FDA Supplement Facts panels, GMP compliance, and the credibility-building design approach needed in a category where trust is the primary purchase driver.

Consumer electronics: Technical specifications, safety certifications, and the clean, modern design language that communicates precision and reliability.
